SCHOOL TOURS SECONDARY AND PRIMARY
- CATCH & RELEASE FISHING AT AGUA VIVA- Students are given an opportunity to Catch and Release three varieties of Tilapia from a pond. These fish are reared for recreational purposes and also to provide Fresh Catch for Farm to Table Dine-in Experience at Cafe Mariposa.
- COCOA TOUR & CHOCOLATE DEMONSTRATION – Cocoa Tours take students on an Educational Walk through the Mini Cocoa Estate around Cafe Mariposa. They learn about flowers, pollinators, growing cushions, fruit, harvesting, fermentation, drying and then to the Chocolate Demonstration to learn about making ToryVen 70% Dark Chocolates and other downstream products available at Cafe Mariposa.
- A cup of Hot Local Chocolate and a sample of ToryVen 70% Dark Chocolate is given to each student
- COCOA DANCE & SEBUCAN/MAYPOLE DANCE- Cocoa Dancing has been developed into a fun experience over the past decades. During the tour, students will learn the original significance of Cocoa Dancing and the current practice to mitigate fungal activity on beans. The Sebucan or Maypole Dance has been incorporated into the experience and students who are not interested in participating in the Cocoa Dance may dance the Sebucan which is an old dance signifying the advent of Spring.
OPTIONAL TOUR INFORMATION
- NATURE TRAIL WALK – Students are taken on a guided walk on the Nature Trail at the back of Cafe Mariposa. On their walk they are able to see native species of plants and trees. The walk takes them through a Charral of Natural Rock Formations and there is a stone which has the shape of a Dinosaur Footprint.
