Our Story:

Embark on a journey through the captivating history that laid the foundation for Cafe Mariposa. It all began in 1984, when the harmonious bond of seven sisters, bound by their shared love for music, achieved a momentous victory at a music festival. This triumph not only marked a pivotal moment in their lives but also ignited the spark that would lead to the creation of something truly special.

In Lopinot’s scenic beauty, our family home blossomed as a refuge for music lovers.

Visitors flocked from near and far to experience the Guerrero family’s enchanting melodies. Amidst the bustling visitors, we upheld our values of hospitality, always offering warm greetings and homemade meals and delicacies.

The influx of guests steadily grew, and it wasn’t long before Bianca, with her visionary spirit, saw the potential for something more. In 2001, inspired by the warmth and camaraderie that permeated our home, Bianca proposed the idea of transforming their beloved retreat into a business venture. Thus, with boundless enthusiasm and unwavering determination, Café Mariposa was born.

What started as a humble pitstop, quickly blossomed into a beloved community hub, where friends and strangers alike gathered to savour mouth-watering food and drinks, delectable treats and a convivial atmosphere infused with music and laughter.

We invite you to join us in celebrating our passion for music and food and our unwavering commitment to creating memorable experiences for all who walk through our doors. Welcome to Cafe Mariposa – where every plate tells a story, and every visit feels like coming home.

Authentic, historical, beautiful location 😍 Warm welcoming family run business. Excellent food and hand made chocolates. Local ingredients infused with Cacao makes everything delectable. The cocoa tea ice cream topped with sweet, spicy tamarind compote is unbelievable 👌

Great concept, enchanting setting, tasty food and drinks, but most of all the owners are knowledgeable and warm.

A treasure in the hills of Lopinot… an excellent place to try cocoa inspired cuisine with the flavours of the Caribbean. Every item we had brought our taste buds alive - I particularly liked the lentil soup … and the MAIN COURSE was the tastiest healthy high fiber meal I’ve had - see pics. The staff were pleasant and professional and made the experience enjoyable. Give it a try … No regrets.
